My name is Ranjit Buddy Singh, and I am proud to call Burlington home for over 30 years. I am running for the Burlington City Council seat representing the South District, driven by a deep commitment to our community and its future. I live with my wife, Lauren, and our daughter, Aviv, a 4th grader at Champlain Elementary.
As a dedicated member of the Burlington community for over three decades, I have worked to strengthen the bonds that make our city vibrant and resilient. Serving as PTO president at Champlain Elementary for the past three years and actively participating in the Unified PTO for Burlington Schools has shown me the power of community in action. Our PTO efforts extend far beyond school events—we provide vital support to families through meals, winter gear, and holiday giving.
My volunteer work extends to coaching soccer with the Greater Burlington Girls Soccer League (GBGSL). Each season, I am reminded of the incredible spirit and camaraderie that our community demonstrates. Additionally, I’ve spent over 15 years on the board of the Burlington Boys & Girls Club, a cornerstone organization that offers a safe, nurturing space for youth and helps them achieve their academic and personal potential.
My 18 years of service on the Church Street Marketplace Commission (2005–2023), including many terms as Treasurer, provided invaluable experience navigating the intersection of business and city governance. During my tenure, I helped guide the Marketplace through major challenges such as the financial crisis and the pandemic, gaining critical insights into how the city can work collaboratively with businesses to foster economic growth and resilience.
Professionally, I am a loan officer at Spruce Mortgage, where I help individuals and families navigate the housing market and understand the financial hurdles that many in our community face.
I am running for City Council because Burlington is at a crossroads and needs new voices to ensure it remains a desirable and affordable place to live. My priorities include:
-
Public Safety: Strengthening trust and ensuring safe neighborhoods.
-
Addressing the Substance Abuse Crisis: Supporting prevention and recovery services.
-
Affordable Housing: Expanding access to homes for all income levels.
-
Economic Vitality: Growing opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
By listening to parents, professionals, students, and city employees, I’ve learned what matters most to Burlingtonians. Together, we can create meaningful change and a stronger future for our city.
